Cultures of Resistance is currently screening at various film and arts festivals around the world, a list of which you can find by clicking here. However, grassroots organizations that are committed to social justice are also putting on screenings themselves. Keep reading to learn more about how you can host the film in your community.
Ever thought of hosting a screening? All you need is a room (community center, coffee shop, theater, back yard, club, church), a projector or a big TV, and a group of people to invite. We will provide the rest, including a screening-in-a-box kit and downloadable template flyers, sample press releases, and a detailed "Event Planning Toolkit" with everything you need to know about how to put on a successful event. Screening hosts are encouraged to present action materials to audience members in order to harness the film’s inspiration and energy.
To cover production, shipping and handling of materials, we charge a fee of $300 US. The film package contains the "Cultures of Resistance" DVD for your library and the right to unlimited public screenings, plus materials such as posters, postcards, and stickers. We also promote your screening and organization on our facebook pages (15,000 friends combined) and on our website.
Director Iara Lee and several of the interviewees and participants in Cultures of Resistance are also available to present and discuss the film and to hold Q&A sessions. Please book in advance, as our schedule is extremely busy.
